My name is Michael Fletcher and I prefer to primarily identify myself as a child of God, this is who I am.
I teach students at a Christian high school in Clackamas, Oregon and I have the privilege of teaching them subjects such as Bible, Math, and Science. It is really fun being able to teach subjects which many people find to be incompatible. I have the ability to teach these diverse courses because I was originally trained in Physics (Eastern Washington University), but have since earned a M.A. in Biblical Studies (Multnomah Seminary), a Th.M. in Systematic Theology (Western Seminary), and now I will be earning a Ph.D. in Philosophical Theology in the next few years from KU Leuven in Belgium. My academic pursuits are directly related to my desire to help reconcile the Church. It is truly my dream to see Church reunion between Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox Christians…the post-modern Mystery of the Gospel: we are all one in Christ. This conciliation has been my desire for the last 10 years. This gives me motivation for going to Belgium, however, I will say that the most difficult part of going to Belgium will be leaving my students.
My students are far from my only love though–my wife helps define the essence of beauty and continually reminds me of the grace of God. I would be nothing without her and I praise God for her everyday. We have been married for 7 years and we hope to someday have children. For now, our children include our cats.
